techUK to present at UK Council for Child Internet Safety Executive Board

techUK has been invited to attend and present at the UKCCIS Executive Board meeting on 24th February 2015 to provide an update on techUK's activities on parental controls across the internet-access industry ecosystem.

Following a request in 2012 by UKCCIS and HM Government for techUK to bring industry coordination across the internet-access industry ecosystem on parental controls, techUK established three working groups on mobile internet access, fixed internet access, and connected TV which included mobile and fixed operators, internet service providers, consumer device manufacturers, software suppliers and retailers.

At the UKCCIS Executive Board, it was acknowledged that these working groups promoted collaboration and stimulated momentum and innovation across industry on the development of a range of parental control tools, with default-on filtering parental control tools now widely available.

Chaired by Ed Vaizey, Minister of State for Culture and the Digital Economy, the full Executive Board minutes are available here.
