Enabling the Digital Place: Integrated Approach to Provide Digital Connectivity for Citizens - meeting notes
techUK recently held a roundtable meeting, comprised of local Government and tech industry leaders, to enable the sharing of knowledge and best practice (including the planning and deployment of fibre and 5G networks) as well as develop a ‘primer’ for the use of other local authorities and industry to help enable an integrated approach for digital connectivity.
In addition to an update from DCMS on 5G by Gareth Holvey, Head of 5G Policy, Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, to spark discussion we also had presentations from:
Philip Saunders, Parliamentary Affairs Counsel, City of London Corporation
Ruth Spencer, Sector Growth Manager - Creative & Digital, Bournemouth Borough Council
Jeevan Namboodiri, Presales Technical - Wireless, ZTE
This event is the second in a series of meetings focusing on local area digital connectivity. An overview of the previous discussion and key takeaways is available online, with broad agreement that leadership and collaboration is central to successful 5G & fibre roll-out. A common strand through the roundtable discussion identified the gap and need for a broader education and awareness piece.
