Most operators will be aware that the funding element of the Energy Technology List is being replaced by other policy measures to incentivise energy intensive businesses to invest in efficiency measures. The Energy Transformation Fund is one of these. BEIS issued an informal consultation which closed last week and we submitted informal comments in response. Our concerns were that the scheme, like others, targets infrastructure and physical plant when the greatest potential savings could be achieved by updating legacy hardware and consolidating distributed IT. We responded to this effect. We also noted that a bidding systems, which has been chosen to provide value for money for government, is not necessarily cost effective for business.
