How UK-based manufacturers are supporting the NHS

Written by Nick Davey, Chief Technology Officer for IMI Inc. & STI Ltd.

A few weeks ago the UK Government reached out for help from businesses who could support in the supply of ventilators and ventilator components across the UK as part of the country’s response to COVID-19. These included companies from Military and Defence, Consumer Electronics and Technology Partnerships that form the backbone of the UK product industry.

For 30 years STI has been trusted to deliver complex electronic solutions for all business sectors and has now stepped up again to support the country in the fight against COVID-19.  From the onset of the Governments request STI has been supporting the generation of new product designs, as well as playing its part in creating this unprecedented push for product supply from its headquarters in Hook, Hampshire.

The STI team in its entirety has been involved in some way, and we have seen a response that is typical of our employees when asked to contribute. Last week we began supplying the first ventilator products from Hook as part of the Ventilator Challenge UK Consortium who have worked tirelessly to achieve this rapid response.

STI has also developed and manufactured products for customers who are delivering primary home care solutions to free up critical beds for COVID-19 patients, and we continue to provide product solutions to business’s using our full product design and development capabilities.
