Fibre Driving and Infrastructure Sharing Working Group

It is important for the UK to make 5G ready, including through ensuring public street furniture is ready to support 5G assets and to ensure the importance of collaboration between local authorities and the telecoms sector.

techUK’s Fibre Driving and Infrastructure Sharing Working Group will emphasise the uptake of the deployment of Fibre and 5G networks through engagement and collaboration with local authorities through collaborating with techUK’s Local Government Programme. We want to help demystify 5G for relevant public sector bodies and create a checklist (including use cases) for Local Authorities to get 5G ready. For areas where mobile coverage is weaker, Satellite should also be considered as part of the mix, either direct to users or as part of the backhaul solution.
