About this event

techUK’s Tech Policy Leadership Conference was a daylong event bringing together tech policy thinkers and practitioners from across UK industry, government, regulators and civil society. The conference was a unique opportunity to discuss the most pressing questions policy questions that face the tech sector in 2022 such as competition policy, online safety, data protection, innovation and digital skills with leaders in the UK’s tech policy community. 

The Tech Policy Leadership Conference featured a line-up of senior speakers and offer participants plenty of opportunities to connect and network as well as showcasing technology from some of the leading tech businesses operating in the UK.

    Going beyond the Bill, how will the UK’s online safety regime be put into practice

    As Parliament finalises legislation on the Online Safety Bill this panel will explore how the regime will be put into practice, what the challenges of compliance will be for smaller companies as well as online platforms and how the new regime could result in big changes for online speech.

    Traditionally data policy is viewed through a lens of data protection, however with the significant increase in the generation of data as well as its ever-growing importance to our society and the economy we are transitioning to a more complex landscape of data governance that needs to balance interconnected and possibly competing demands. As the UK begins a period of reform outside the EU, what questions should be front of mind for the UK Government and how can we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.
