Shaping industry input on a potential UK consumer class action regime: techUK webinar
A webinar for techUK members on the Law Commission’s consumer class action scoping exercise and its implications for UK tech businesses.

About this event
This session took place on Thursday 3 September 2026. Please find the recording below.
The UK Government's Law Commission is exploring the potential introduction of a dedicated consumer class action regime and has launched an initial scoping exercise to gather stakeholder views. This is a significant development for businesses operating in UK consumer markets, with the potential to reshape the UK's collective redress landscape and increase exposure to mass consumer claims.
techUK will be responding to the Law Commission's questionnaire through inviting members to feed in views, so we are convening a member webinar in partnership with Linklaters to discuss the key issues under consideration and begin to gather industry perspectives.
Session overview
The discussion was led by legal experts on consumer protection and competition from Linklaters.
Following the webinar, techUK and Linklaters used the discussion to inform a draft response to the Law Commission's scoping questionnaire, providing members with a further opportunity to contribute ahead of submission.
