Project ExplAIn is a collaboration between the Information Commissioner’s Office and The Alan Turing Institute to create practical guidance to assist organisations with explaining artificial intelligence (AI) decisions to the individuals affected.
techUK, the ICO and The Alan Turing Institute are looking for participants for a workshop to get organisations’ feedback on parts of the draft guidance. The workshop will take place on 16 September at the offices of techUK.
The areas it will focus on in particular are:
- the roles involved in the decision-making pipeline for AI within your organisation, and
- the types of explanation you can provide, and how you can extract and deliver them.
The ICO are looking for representatives from companies, as well as public sector and third sector bodies, that process people’s personal data in AI applications, ranging from large organisations to SMEs. These can be organisations that build and deploy AI systems themselves, or those that source them from a third party supplier.
Your input will be invaluable in making the guidance as useful as possible to organisations who need to provide explanations for AI decisions to individuals. The ICO will be sharing the draft guidance with participants in advance of the workshop.
