High Performance Computing: benefits and barriers for SMEs

This event has been postponed, a future date will be set shortly.

We are witnessing a revolution in research and innovation; modern research is still founded on the basic principles of observation, with computational and data analytic approaches central to all research sectors.

The UK Government are committed to ensuring that future developments in HPC deliver benefits across research and innovation, including tech/artificial intelligence start-ups and SMEs. To shape UKRI's future e-infrastructure strategy, Government and UKRI will engage broadly with industry to ensure the opportunity for smaller businesses is understood.

On Thursday 8 August, 2-4pm, in collaboration with BEIS, the Office for AI and UKRI, techUK will be hosting a roundtable to help businesses, to understand the benefits of this technology and learn where barriers to adoption may be occurring.

During this roundtable, an overview of existing e-infrastructure work will be presented and we will ask the following questions:

  • What do you understand of the opportunities for HPC/e-infrastructure in growing your business?
  • What are your current uses of HPC facilities? How could future demand grow?
  • What are the barriers to industrial use for SMEs? What actions can be taken to overcome this?

This event has been postponed, a future date will be set shortly.
