techUK and Plexal explore the future of photonics and the impact on defence, sponsored by Dell and Intel

As the UK delivers on the ambitions set out in the Defence and Security Industrial Strategy (DSIS), advanced technologies such as photonics are playing an increasingly critical role in strengthening our national resilience and operational advantage.

As part of techUK’s Photonics Sprint Campaign and organised in collaboration with Plexal, this event will bring together senior representatives from the Ministry of Defence, defence primes, academia and the start-up community to explore how photonics can shape the future battlespace— from advanced sensing and secure communications to directed energy and next-generation manufacturing.

The discussion will focus on how the UK can build and sustain competitive advantage in photonics through greater collaboration across the innovation ecosystem — ensuring cutting-edge research transitions rapidly into deployable capability.
