Member Roundtable: BIST Competition Collective Action Reform

About this event

Tuesday 8 September 2026 | 13:00-14:00 | Online

Join techUK and Linklaters for a member roundtable to discuss the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST)’s consultation on reform of the UK competition collective action regime. This session will provide an opportunity for members to contribute directly to techUK's consultation response.

The UK's opt-out collective action regime lets one representative bring a mass damages claim on behalf of a whole class of people or businesses. Tech firms are a growing target, facing multi-billion-pound claims from major corporations. These claims can proceed without any prior regulatory finding, which creates real litigation risk for the sector. The government is now consulting on reforms to certification, fees, funding, and settlements.

Responses are due 25 September 2026.

This is a genuine chance to help shape the outcome, but only if we respond in time. Join us to discuss what's at stake and help inform techUK's response.

Who should attend

We encourage all interested members to join the discussion and help ensure the technology sector's perspective is reflected in this important policy debate.
