Delegation - Trade Mission to India (including WCIT 2018)

techUK is pleased to support the Northern Powerhouse Trade Mission to India which will take in WCIT India 2018 in Hyderabad, India as part of NASSCOM's ILF 2018 Conference. 


SME’s can apply for a £1500 ERDF grant towards their costs of participating.

India is forecast to further progress to become the second largest market for IT by the end of 2018. The highest spending will be in the Telecommunications Services (37.3%), followed by devices (33.7%), IT services (19.2%), Software (6.7%) and Data Centre Systems (3.1%).


Why attend?

The NPH Department for International Trade-led Mission will provide unprecedented access to strategic partners driving India’s Technology growth. UK companies are invited to promote their capabilities to a growing marketplace and take part in bespoke 5 day business programme offering 1-2-1 meetings with potential partners and market experts.

The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) has indicated that the future growth in the ICT sector will be fuelled by growing demand for new services such as digital technology, mobile applications and cloud computing – this would in turn be dependent on solutions like the Internet of Things, augmented reality and smart hardware.

The IT spending in India is going to further jump drastically around new opportunities that have been launched by the government of India in 2015-16 Digital India (potential value of £45bn over the 10 years), Smart Cities (£20-24bn over the 10 years); and Make In India £400bn over the years to 2025.


The Mission

The Technology mission to India aims to increase technology exports to India, for example in the following priority subsectors - Data Analytics and SaaS, Communication and Cloud Technologies and IoT. These sub sectors are particularly related with three key Government of India initiatives/campaigns - Digital India (delivery of public services through digital by default), Smart Cities and Make in India (increasing the capacity and capability of indigenous design and manufacture of components, systems and finished products). DIT in-market team along with the High Value Campaign are identifying key Indian companies/influencers/leaders to identify new opportunities and build on existing opportunities.


Outline of Trade Mission

NPH mission would start in Hyderabad and undertake activity around the NASSCOM leadership summit to support company objectives. The group will undertake meetings arranged by DIT Tech team in Hyderabad focussing on Data Analytics, AI (machine learning) and XaaS / Cloud Services etc. The group would then travel to Bengaluru (the heart of ICT sector in India and is home to the largest hub of software exporting companies in India and the fourth largest technology cluster In the world), to undertake pitches to the large Systems Integrators such as WIPRO / Infosys / TCS to then complete the mission in the countries powerhouse city of Mumbai for pre-arranged individual one to one sales meetings and networking events.

Monday PM DIT/MIDAS Trade & Investment reception

Tuesday 20th Hyderabad - undertake activity around the NASSCOM leadership summit to support NPH objectives

Wednesday 21st - undertake pitches to the large Systems Integrators such as WIPRO / Infosys / TCS.

Wednesday evening Tech sector reception with system integrators and Indian technology companies

Thursday 22nd Bangalore - undertake pitches to the large Systems Integrators such as WIPRO / Infosys / TCS

depart early eve for Mumbai
