The European Commission has put forward the Network and Information Security Directive (Otherwise known as NISD or the Cyber Security Directive) to establish a set of minimum cyber security standards applicable across member states. The Directive will require affected organizations to implement security measures to guarantee a level of security appropriate to their risk and to notify relevant authorities in the event of serious incidents.
The Directive is likely to be finalised by the end of the year and member states will then have until 2017 to transpose it into national law. techUK will provide input into consultation carried out by BIS on the implementation of the Directive. This briefing, given by BIS, will focus on the UK Government's plans for implementing the Directive and its plans to consult formally with industry.
