This techUK Defence Programme briefing will offer members an introduction to Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR's), including presentation from the Single Source Regulations Office and MOD's Single Source Advisory Team. Members should attend this session if they are keen to learn more about how SSCR's might affect there business going forward either directly through a Qualifying Defence Contract (QDC) or indirectly through a Qualifying Sub-Contract (QSC).
One area for discussion will be the role and responsibilities of the Single Source Regulations Office (an MOD-sponsored public body) in relation to £27 billion of defence contracts that have been awarded under the arrangements prescribed by the Single Source Contract Regulations. This includes statutory reporting requirements, arrangements to establish fair and reasonable profit rates, principles to determine costs that are allowable in relation to contract delivery, and an independent referrals process conducted by the SSRO. A key aspect of the session will see speakers outline how stakeholders can engage with the SSRO in relation to its current and future work programme.
The SSAT will cover how they are leading on the Cost Risk Adjustment work in partnership with industry and the review of upcoming legislative changes in the coming year. As the main source of guidance on the legislation within the MOD, the SSAT has first-hand experience of how the regime works on the ground, the challenges it presents and how these can be met.
The presentations will be followed by an open Q&A session and a networking lunch.
Confirmed to speak at the session so far include:
Matthew Rees, Director of Regulation and Economics, Single Source Regulations Office
Charly Wason, Head, Single Source Advisory Team (SSAT), MOD
The session will be chaired by Robert Tindle, Head of Commercial, BAE Systems Defence Information.
