Lord Kulveer Ranger is appointed as the new Chair of the UK-India Tech Forum
LONDON, 10 May: techUK is today announcing the appointment of Lord Kulveer Ranger as the new Chair of the UK-India Tech Forum. With a rich background spanning the public and private sectors, Lord Ranger brings unparalleled expertise and leadership to this role.
Already a distinguished member of the techUK board, Lord Ranger has been a driving force within the tech sector, advocating tirelessly for its advancement. His appointment underscores techUK's commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in the UK-India tech landscape.
As Chair of the UK-India Tech Forum, Lord Kulveer will lead efforts to enhance engagement with businesses and governments from both nations. The Forum, a collaborative effort between techUK and partner organisation NASSCOM, serves as a platform for addressing key policy, trade, and investment issues, while also spotlighting the immense potential of emerging technologies in the UK-India corridor.
Key priorities for the Forum include discussions on critical topics such as the potential Free Trade Agreement between the UK and India, with a specific focus on intellectual property rights and data flows, crucial for tech companies operating in both jurisdictions. Additionally, the Forum provides invaluable educational resources to support companies seeking to navigate the complexities of exporting and expanding into the Indian market. The first UK-India Tech Forum of the year will take place on the 14 June, during London Tech Week, and will include a delegation of Indian companies. There will be a Parliamentary Roundtable taking place in June too, with the date to be confirmed. This will be followed after summer by a techUK member delegation to India.
Lord Ranger's extensive experience in the UK Parliament's second chamber, coupled with his impactful contributions during his tenure with the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, uniquely position him to provide invaluable insights into the UK tech sector's dynamics.
During his time at City Hall, Lord Ranger played a pivotal role in delivering transformative innovations such as the London Oystercard, revolutionising public transport accessibility in the capital. His leadership extended to the establishment of the Digital London Office and spearheading key initiatives vital to London's growth, including preparations for the 2012 Olympics, Crossrail advocacy, and the development of Tech City.
Most recently, Lord Ranger served as a senior executive at Atos, a global leader in digital transformation, where he played a key role in shaping strategic corporate communications across Northern Europe, APAC, and India.
