The topics of security and governance continue to dominate the policy discussion around IoT. Government has continued to press ahead with its Secure by Default IoT Project, which techUK has been participating in, and there's an opportunity to engage directly with the team at DCMS on 12 October. The Government's thinking around the Digital Charter, which seeks to establish a new framework for how we interact online, continues to develop. You can read Matt Hancock's latest speech which touched on the issue here.
Tackling some of the big issues around security, data governance and ethics are all topics which the industry needs to engage with to ensure an informed debate about the balance between regulation and innovation. However, it is also important we focus on the benefits that IoT and tech more generally can deliver, so we hope you will be able to join our Supercharging Conference, now in its second year, on the 31 October.
On the topic of positive news, it's also been great to see the continued development of the CityVerve project with the opening of its Operations building which also houses an accelerator. We are pretty buzzed to read about some of the projects underway.
