Cloud, Data, Analytics & AI Update | July 2017

July has been an important month for techUK, with GDPR starting its journey into UK law in September through the Data Protection Bill. This change is the biggest transformation to data protection rules in over twenty years and techUK commented on this important change.

The House of Lords EU Home Affairs Sub-Committee recently published a report on Brexit and the EU Data Protection Package. techUK provided evidence to the Committee during its inquiry and is heavily quoted in the Committee’s report.

techUK hosted our Annual Dinner in which our President emphasised how tech is at the heart of the UK economy, also highlighting the importance for the tech sector to act now to shape the future of the UK.

We would also like to congratulate this month's techUK Cloud Champion! Find out more about our champion and how they have supported their organisation’s move to the cloud.

The Cloud, Data, Analytics & AI programme is preparing to launch a new Digital Ethics and Data Governance working group to bring together members to discuss key legal and ethical questions about data as technologies including machine learning and AI evolve. Any members interested in being involved in this working group are asked to get in touch with sue.daley@techuk.org.

If you would like to get involved in techUK's Cloud, Data, Analytics and AI Programme please contact Sue Daley or Jeremy Lilley
