techUK Submits Response to Payment Strategy Forum Consultation

In July, the Payment Strategy Forum released its Blueprint for the Future of UK Payments, which builds on its November 2016 Strategy (see insight, July 31st).

techUK submitted our response to this consultation at the end of September. The main points raised can be summarised as follows:

• New payments architecture: clarity is needed on the concept of push payments.
• New Payment Systems Operator: governance of a new payments architecture should be inclusive and transparent.
• End-user needs solutions: clear communication on how request to pay should operate as well as consideration of possible fees is required.
• Emerging technologies: a new payments architecture should ensure it takes into account the potential of new technologies.
