techUK has been a strong advocate of the power of the UK’s tech sector to deliver the much needed productivity gains to tackle the UK’s persistent productivity problem. This is an ambition shared by the Chancellor, Philip Hammond MP, and one he was keen to stress at the Enterprise Forum Business Reception, co-sponsored by techUK at Conservative Party Conference this year.
Reiterating comments from his Conference speech, the Chancellor said Britain was the “number one digital economy in the world” and a strong platform on which to build a post-Brexit economy. He stressed the need for entrepreneurship and innovation to be the beating heart of the UK’s economy.
We hope the Chancellor will match this ambition with some significant measures to unleash the next wave of digital growth in November’s Budget.
