On Tuesday, 13 June the Legal Affairs Group held a session on Cyber Law and practice, where our speakers Michael Bateman, IT Lab and Mark Bailey, Charles Russell Speechlys LLP, provided a practical input on:
- Current terms in information security policies – what are the key contractual provisions and requirements and how are these included in technology and outsourcing agreements
- Negotiation tactics for customers and suppliers in the light of GDPR and controller/processor obligations
- How information security is applied in practice with practical insights from IT Lab. We will investigate the common root causes of cyber breaches, as well as demonstrate how fast and easy many routes of compromise are. We will then explore what can be done to mitigate some of the risks presented, and put into everyday context security policy and process controls with how they correspond to real-world technology and process changes.
- Current codes of conduct and standards on cloud computing and certification schemes for information security compliance. Codes of Conduct are now emerging enabling IT providers to demonstrate compliance with GDPR data processor obligations – what are they and how will they impact contracting?
