This combination of cloud service providers means UK businesses and consumers are able to access a range of and technologically advanced, free to use, and paid cloud services.

The good news is that there are many organisations and individuals are benefiting from cloud computing services today. However, there are still many more that could be benefiting from cloud deployment, adoption and use but are not. This raises the question of what is holding back cloud adoption in 2018 and are there specific challenges and barriers that need to be addressed to increase the take-up and use of the cloud services being offered today by the UK cloud market.

Join us and contribute to this speaker led session that will identify and discuss the key issues and areas that may need to be addressed in order to drive the UK cloud market forward in 2018. Speakers for this session are being confirmed but will include:

Iain Patterson,Chief Digital Officer, UK Cloud

Dan Cartter, Head of Product Development, SCC

Susan Bowen, VP and General Manager EMEA, Cogeco Peer 1

John Coulston, Rackspace

Each speaker will outline the issue they feel is most important to increasing the take up and adoption of cloud and accelerating market development. This interactive event will discuss and debate topical cloud issues with leading figures in the cloud computing industry and offer techUK members a chance to offer views on the future of cloud computing in the UK.

The input received from the event will be used to develop techUK’s 2018 cloud computing work programme. This is your opportunity to inform and influence techUK’s cloud activities this year so please do come along and get involved.

Following the event there will also be an opportunity to continue the discussion and network with attendees and speakers over a drink.

If you would like to attend this session please click the 'Book Now' button.

If you would like to discuss the wider work of the techUK Cloud, Data, Analytics & AI programme, please contact Sue Daley for more details.

Contact: sue.daley@techuk.org
http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/9620-uk-spectrum-policy-forum-plenary-meeting UK Spectrum Policy Forum - Plenary Meeting http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/9620-uk-spectrum-policy-forum-plenary-meeting Tue, 01 Nov 2016 11:00:00 +0000 Skye MacLeod (techUK) skye.macleod@techuk.org UK Spectrum Policy Forum meeting on Thursday 25 January 2018.
Date: Thursday 25 January 2018
Time: 14:00 - 16:30 (followed by refreshments)
Registration from 13:30
Venue: techUK, 10 St Bride St, London EC4A 4AD

Agenda

14:00 - 14:05 Welcome and Introductions - David Meyer, Chair, UK Spectrum Policy Forum

14:05 – 14:30 - Updates from the 11 January UK Spectrum Policy Forum Steering Board - Chris Cheeseman, Spectrum Strategy Director, BT Group and Steering Board Chairman

Update from Cluster 1 - Janette Stewart, Principal, Analysys Mason and Chair of UK SPF Cluster 1

Update from Cluster 2 - Peter Curnow-Ford, CEO, Viatec and Chair of UK SPF Cluster 2

Update from Cluster 3 - Tony Lavender, CEO, Plum Consulting and Chair of UK SPF Cluster 3

Update from Cluster 4 - Barry Lewis, Chair of UK SPF Cluster 4

14:30 – 15:30 - The Irish 3.6 GHz Spectrum Award - Dr. Samuel Ritchie, Radio Spectrum Advisor to the Commission & George Merrigan, Director of Market Framework, ComReg

Neutral Host and “Carrier of Carriers” small cell networks for both 4G LTE and 5G NR - Paul Senior, CEO, Dense Air, Managing Director, Airspan Spectrum Holdings, and Chief Strategy Officer, Airspan Networks

15:30 – 16:00 In conversation with Jane Humphreys: Joe Butler - Jane Humphreys & Joe Butler, Chief Scientific Advisor, DCMS

16:00 – 16:30 - Our Digital Future: Smart analysis of smart technology - William Webb, CEO, Weightless SIG and Director, Webb Search

16:30 - AOB and Close - David Meyer, Chair, UK Spectrum Policy Forum

Please remember that the techUK Conference Suite is wireless enabled so you can network, catch-up on emails and do your 'last minute' calls, with full access to printing and refreshments before and after the meeting.

Attendance is by invitation only - if necessary, seats are available on a first come first served basis and we reserve the right to limit to one delegate per company.

For further information please contact:

Contact: julian.mcgougan

Contact: skye.macleod@techuk.org
http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12021-local-public-services-committee-meeting Local Public Services Committee Meeting http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12021-local-public-services-committee-meeting Thu, 04 Jan 2018 10:24:48 +0000 Georgina Maratheftis(techUK) georgina.maratheftis@techuk.org TIME: 10:00 - 12:30 PLACE: techUK, 10 St Bride Street London
techUK's Local Public Services Committee brings together senior public sector leaders from tech companies from small, medium and large companies. Many have also begun to build on their digital data foundations by adopting and deploying advanced analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence. At the start of 2018 it is clear is that the UK is not at the start of its data driven transformation. There continues to be great interest, enthusiasm and excitement about the opportunities and benefits that data science, data analytics and in particular artificial intelligence technologies can offer organisation as well as the wider UK economy and society.

This session will therefore consider how we move forward and encourage more organisations to embrace data driven change and adopt and use data analytics technologies. Also given the interest and excitement around the opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence, it will discuss how do we prepare and act now to make sure UK organisations across all industries and sectors are prepared and ready to realise the full economic and societal benefits of AI.

This is your opportunity to discuss and debate topical data related issues with leading industry figures in data analytics and AI and inform and influence techUK’s Data Analytics and AI activities this year. The Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) commissioned a research project on behalf of the Future Communication and Positioning Advisory Group (FC&PS AG) to identify potential technical and commercial options for delivering improved internet connectivity for customers on the GB rail corridors within the next 5 years. This event will officially launch the report produced by LS telcom UK as part of this project and discuss the challenges and next steps with key stakeholders from both rail and digital industries and government. Members of the Future Connected Rail Stakeholders Working Group at techUK from both rail and digital industries supported the delivery of this report.

The publication of the report coincides with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, and the Department for Transport’s launch of a call for evidence on ‘Commercial options for delivering mobile connectivity on trains’. The findings from the report could help to provide some information to this call for evidence.

This event will bring the rail and digital industries and government together to align ambitions for improving internet connectivity on Britain’s railways and prove to government that there is an appetite to deliver improved internet connectivity on trains, and that there are the right people in the rail and digital industries, with the right means and motivations, to make it happen. This will take momentum and will succeed back into all of those organisations involved.

This event is open for all the key stakeholders. We shop, book holidays, buy travel and entertainment online. We bank online. We communicate online. We meet potential partners online....the list is endless.

Yet our identities are still buried in mountains of paper: passports, birth certificates, marriage certificate driving licence, utility bills, etc etc. And still, we have to dig out these pieces of paper to prove our right to carry out many essential things in life.

Surely it is time for a digital identity?

The UK has been making efforts towards this goal for some years but we still have not got there. Yet other EU countires are happily using digital IDs to access public services.

Distributed Ledger Technologies offer new possibilities in digital identity, as it enables entities, independent of each other, to rely on the same shared, secure and auditable source of information in a way that fits well with a system of widespread digital identity. Banks are looking to DLT to provide a solution to know-your-customer requirements - checks into the status of an individual or company, which are currently inefficient, costly and time-consuming. Likewise, others are looking inot the possibility of creating a blockchain of blockchains, connecting various permissioned and public systems so that a digital identity could be truly universal.

So will blockchain bring the long awaited universal digital ID? Join us at techUK for a lively debate with expert speakers from across the spectrum.

Speakers

Kaspar Korjus, Managing Director, e-Residency, Republic of Estonia.

More speakers tbc

http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/11912-consumer-electronics-council Consumer Electronics Council http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/11912-consumer-electronics-council Wed, 13 Dec 2017 14:38:07 +0000 Camilla Young (techUK) camilla.young@techuk.org A steering group established to guide sector representation to government, broadcasters, and technical bodies on behalf of UK consumer electronics players.
Chair:

Richard Bass, Head of B2C Business Unit, Digital Media Group, Hitachi Europe Ltd

Guest Speakers:

Information to follow

The full agenda and all information will be circulated to members of this council nearer the time.

Please remember that the techUK Conference Suite is wireless enabled so you can network, catch-up on emails and do your 'last minute' calls, with full access to printing and refreshments before and after the meeting.

Attendance is by invitation only - please contact Lucas Banach if you would like to attend this meeting

For further information please contact:
http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/9944-environmental-strategy-council-meeting Environmental Strategy Council meeting http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/9944-environmental-strategy-council-meeting Wed, 21 Dec 2016 15:10:34 +0000 Lucas Banach (techUK) lucas.banach@techuk.org Meeting of the Environmental Strategy Council to be held on 15 March.
techUK’s Environmental Strategy Council is open to all interested members of techUK.
