They use vast amounts of hardware, rely on complex software, and are physically distributed over land, underwater, and in orbit. They increasingly provide essential services that underpin almost every aspect of life. Managing networks and optimising their performance is a vast challenge, and will become many times harder with the advent of 5G. The 4th Annual CW Technology Conference will explore this challenge and how Machine Learning and AI may be applied to build more reliable, secure and better performing networks.

Is the AI community aware of the challenges facing network providers? Are the network operators and providers aware of how the very latest developments in AI may provide solutions? The conference will aim to bridge the gap between AI/ML and communications network communities, making each more aware of the nature and scale of the problems and the potential solutions.

This one day conference, held at the University of Cambridge Computer Lab on September 27th 2018, is aimed at data scientists and network engineers in universities, infrastructure suppliers, and software providers.

The annual CW TEC provides a vibrant and dynamic form for harnessing knowledge, driving lively debate and networking at a senior level. It offers a more low-level, technical and focused agenda than the International Conference, exploring an emerging problem space that the CW community has highlighted as being particularly worthy of debate. Past event topics have included quantum computing and the impact on spectral value of mobile, satellite, TV, IoT and wearable technologies. The conference format and agenda is driven by the CW membership and this year the organising committee includes Steve Unger, John Haine, Sylvia Lu, Paul Ceely, Phil Claridge and Zahid Ghadialy.

**techUK members receive a special 25% discount off listed ticket prices using the code 4HX9RS4E. Reserve your place here and ensure you use the code to receive the discount.**
http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12842-trade-and-customs-compliance-group-meeting Trade and Customs Compliance Group meeting http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12842-trade-and-customs-compliance-group-meeting Tue, 17 Apr 2018 09:17:39 +0100 CRM Sync noreply@techuk.org The Trade & Customs Compliance Group is the policy work forum on export controls, dual-use, defence exports, customs and the rules around international trade.
Our next Trade and Customs Compliance Group meeting will take place on on 27 September 2018.

At this next quarterly meeting we will continue to focus discussion on concerns related to International Trade, following the decision to exit the EU, as well as updates on licencing and SPIRE/LITE development.

For more information, please contact:
Contact: lucas.banach@techuk.orgContact: craig.melson@techuk.org http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/13422-october-cloud-leadership-committee October Cloud Leadership Committee http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/13422-october-cloud-leadership-committee Tue, 03 Jul 2018 11:45:00 +0100 CRM Sync noreply@techuk.org October meeting of the techUK Cloud Leadership Committee.
Please note this is a committee-only meeting and not open to those not on the Cloud Leadership Committee.
http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/13112-techuk-introductory-evening-october-2018 techUK Introductory Evening - October 2018 http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/13112-techuk-introductory-evening-october-2018 Fri, 18 May 2018 08:58:26 +0100 CRM Sync noreply@techuk.org techUK Introductory Evening
Whether you are new to techUK, thinking of joining us or would just like a reminder of the many benefits and services that we have to offer, then this is the event for you.

We invite you to join us for an introductory evening, where we will tell you more about techUK, how we work and how you, as a member, can access our many member benefits and services.

We will explain our vision for the UK tech industry and our priorities for 2018. At our recent ‘Council of the Future: Is there a role for AI?’, we heard from councils who were early adopters of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve customer experience and reduce cost. A reoccurring theme that came out of this roundtable and other local government events we have held is that techUK has a role to help councils horizon scan and understand the ‘art of the possible.’ The aim of the Working Group will be to convene industry and local government to produce a visual that will illustrate how emerging technologies can lead to a change in a social pathway or effect an outcome.

This will be a cross-programme Working Group, bringing together the various techUK public sector and cross-market programmes to share learning and discuss what the most appropriate output will be, what service areas to prioritise, to help councils horizon scan and understand the transformative role of emerging technologies, as well as any additional activity such as events that will be of value to the market. There may also be the possibility for sub-groups.

You can learn more about the working group and the terms of reference here.

Attendance is open to those part of the Working Group, membership will include techUK members and public sector.

If you would like to get involved and attend this working group meeting, please email Georgina.Maratheftis@techuk.org.
http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12707-european-exit-policy-group European Exit Policy Group http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12707-european-exit-policy-group Thu, 08 Mar 2018 22:54:41 +0000 CRM Sync noreply@techuk.org http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12951-connecting-the-digital-community-digital-future Connecting the Digital Community: Digital Future http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12951-connecting-the-digital-community-digital-future Thu, 26 Apr 2018 14:23:51 +0100 CRM Sync noreply@techuk.org This is your go-to event for everything related to the CCS Digital Future commercial strategy.

What are the Meet-Ups?

This is your go-to event for everything related to the Crown Commercial Service Digital Future commercial strategy, and there's lots to discuss!

We are bringing together people from across the tech community and public sector to swap stories, experiences and ideas. Digital connectivity is an essential, though often overlooked part of this work and many are unaware how it can transform this sector. The option for a 5G network can open up fresh opportunities for the development and delivery of health care systems across the UK. From remote patient monitoring and using real-time data in urgent responses for diagnostic conditions to VR/AR capabilities for staff training purposes.

The Government emphasises in its Digital Strategy the importance of building a world-class digital infrastructure for the UK. It has a clear ambition for the UK to be a global leader in the next generation of mobile technology (5G) and how it could also support significant efficiencies in public service delivery such as health services and education.

And as the UK prepares for the future of a fifth generation network, we want to explore just how much 5G could transform the health and social care sector to improve well-being and health by providing them with real-time intelligence and unparalleled situational awareness.

This event will explore how 5G can transform future healthcare applications and services and the connectivity required to facilitate these services. This includes:

evaluating diagnostics with the upcoming fifth generation network data and

diagnosing, monitoring and treating patients in hospital and in the home around the UK.

The aim is to raise awareness of digital connectivity in the healthcare sector and highlight the work of organisations operating in this field (ranging from innovation centres, industry and SME's) using products, networks and services that are directly helping patients, citizens, and health and care professionals.

Speakers Include:

Professor Joe Spencer, University of Liverpool and academic lead for Sensor City

James Champion, Business Development Manager, Qualcomm Life

Contact: kate.francis@techuk.orgContact: sophie.weston@techuk.org http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12570-local-public-services-committee-meeting Local Public Services Committee Meeting http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12570-local-public-services-committee-meeting Wed, 14 Mar 2018 11:28:45 +0000 CRM Sync noreply@techuk.org
techUK's Local Public Services Committee brings together senior public sector leaders from tech companies from small, medium and large companies. But the advent of 5G presents an opportunity to transform emergency services communications, enabling them to share a much wider range of comms data. Which will have a significant impact on effectiveness and efficiency.

And as the UK prepares for the future of a fifth generation network, we wonder just how much 5G could transform the emergency services’ ability to keep us safe and secure by providing them with real-time intelligence and unparalleled situational awareness.

This event will examine the benefits that a fifth generation network that could deliver to the emergency services. We will explore the impact of 5G on major incidents response, the future of the control room, monitoring and prevention, and mobile working. The panel will explore how better connectivity and capacity could allow the services to take advantage of the latest technologies, and will try to identify what steps need to be taken by comms infrastructure providers, tech suppliers to blue lights services, and the Government, to make 5G enabled emergency services a reality.

Confirmed Speakers:
• Add to this the need to understand transport requirements of CPRI, eCPRI, F1, E1, S1, N2 and N3 interfaces and the 5G RAN transport connectivity situation becomes even more complex!

This eMBB SIG event will cut through all of the confusion by explaining the terms, referencing industry standards and work of industry fora such as NGMN and Small Cells Forum, and discussing the real-world transport network requirements that will be necessary to make 5G a reality. Solutions for 5G access connectivity will include fibre, fixed radio links (microwave/millimetre wave) and in-band/self-backhauling solutions, the session will discuss how these solutions align with the requirements of the various functional splits/interfaces and different RAN architectures.

Speakers from operators and vendors will offer insight through a series of presentations and a panel session, allowing plenty of time for Q&A.

Reserve your place here: https://www.cambridgewireless.co.uk/events/5g-ran-transport-connectivity/
http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12860-techuk-data-centres-council-invitation-only techUK Data Centres Council *invitation only* http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12860-techuk-data-centres-council-invitation-only Tue, 17 Apr 2018 13:52:26 +0100 CRM Sync noreply@techuk.org Our Data Centres Council steers techUK's data centres programme and provides a senior level voice for the sector to government, media and wider stakeholders.
Our Data Centres Council meets five times a year to steer techUK's data centres programme and provide a senior level voice for the sector to government, media and wider stakeholders.

Council membership is invitation only from techUK's membership base - contact us for more information on activities, membership and minutes.
http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12847-data-centres-risk-radar-save-the-date Data Centres Risk Radar **Save the Date** http://www.techuk.org/events/meeting/item/12847-data-centres-risk-radar-save-the-date Tue, 17 Apr 2018 09:58:58 +0100 CRM Sync noreply@techuk.org Our next Risk Radar session
Registration from 5pm. Based on member input, the report highlighted the benefits the UK stand to gain from driving innovation and take up of cloud-based technologies, and what must be done in 6 key areas to ensure this happens. With 2020 nearly upon us, techUK wants to review what progress has been made, and what may still need to be done, on the following key recommendations made in the report:

Enabling data portability and system interoperability within the cloud computing ecosystem

Building trust in the security of cloud computing services

Supporting the cultural shift required to optimise the use of cloud

Building a coherent regulatory framework for cloud

Ensuring effective public-sector adoption and usage of cloud

Having a communications infrastructure that keeps pace with mass cloud adoption.

On 3 December from 15:00-17.00 (registration 14:30-15:00) come and join techUK's Cloud 2020 debate, where key cloud computing leaders will discuss and assess progress made in each of these recommendations and what action may still be needed as we look ahead. The session will also consider whether there are important issues that will impact the future development of the cloud computing market in the UK.

In this interactive session each speaker will have just five minutes to provide their assessment of the progress that has been made on a specific recommendation and advocate why a recommendation is the most important to the UK's ability to gain the full potential of cloud computing. It will then be up to you to quiz, question and challenge the speakers before voting for which issue you feel is the most important to the future of cloud computing in the UK.

All the output from the session will be used to develop techUK’s Cloud 2020 Vision progress report, including recommendations on action that still needs to be taken, which will be released at the beginning of 2019.

Confirmed speakers include Jamie Tyler, CenturyLink, and Paul Knott, Symantec. Book now to join us on 3 December and take part in this interactive event where you will have the opportunity to discuss and debate with leading figures in the cloud computing industry and give us your views on the future of cloud computing in the UK.
