Melanie Worthy

Melanie is the programme manager of techUK’s Financial Services and Payments programme. She assists on techUK’s insurance, open banking, blockchain and payments activities, as well as driving specific initiatives in relation to financial inclusion, and digital identity. The work spans building advocacy relationships with government and regulators, identifying market developments and facilitating networking and business development opportunities for members.

Prior to joining techUK in November 2017, Melanie has enjoyed a long and varied City career in a number of regulatory, trade body advisory, FS consumer policy and PR agency roles, plus in wider policy, advocacy and integrated communications capacities. She previously worked for the British Bankers Association, Association of British Insurers, the Investment Association, KPMG and the Bank of England. A professional highlight was spearheading Virgin Money’s PR advocacy campaign when it acquired Northern Rock.

Melanie has a number of charitable and mentoring interests and is a Fellow of the RSA. She holds a MA and BA (Hons) degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge.
